Monday, 21 August 2006 |
Four months and one major update after thir first Auto Assault Review, GameDaily goes back to this original MMORPG to check how it has evolved . They were one of the few website enthusiastic about A uto Assault at release time, and they seems even more happy about it now. To be honest, after reading this second review it looks like the best thing happened to AA since now is the servers merge, wich made the game world finally crowded at the intended rate. |

Tomorrow at 08:00 ingame time will start the deployment of a new patch for EVE Online. You are strongly suggested to set a long skill training because the downtime is expected to be long. There will be no new content in this 24.2 MB patch but, as Kieron said in the official game forums, "This is a major step in preparation for deploying the upcoming EVE expansion, the Path to Kali. As such, there are going to be some changes made that will have an effect on the EVE community." |

Jumpgate Lead Developer interviewed |
Friday, 18 August 2006 |
From the interview: "MMO Portal: What are some of Jumpgate's more unique features that keep someone playing long after giving it a try? Istvan: First and foremost, the flight engine is unique. It's very close to true Newtonian physics, but the original developers included a slight drag component. It turns out that fully realistic physics isn't very playable for spaceflight: free acceleration causes control trouble for the player, and higher and higher speeds can eventually cause problems in important parts of the game software, such as collision checking. The drag component prevents these problems in Jumpgate, but the drag isn't so strong as to prevent the fun parts of Newtonian flight, such as being able to pivot and fire in a direction other than your momentum vector. This is what makes dogfights in Jumpgate so interesting.: |

WOW buffs persistence changed again |
Wednesday, 16 August 2006 |
On the official WOW Forums a sticky post warn us that: We have implemented a hotfix to all realms during today's maintenance which we had originally scheduled to release with patch 1.12 that changes the functionality of temporary item buffs (e.g. poisons, sharpening stones and shaman weapon buffs.) While we only just recently allowed the affects of these temporary item buffs to persist upon zoning and logging out, due to the extra demand it was placing on our hardware we've decided that for the time being, it was best to revert the change. We do anticipate this functionality will be available again once the anticipated hardware upgrades have been completed in preparation for the Burning Crusade's release.
